Description
I had completed 13 paintings in the Lake Eola series and knew I wanted to do one more. Only one out of the 13 have the fountain, and it’s not the focus. I wanted to make sure I had one painting that prominently featured what is a visual icon for this city. So my family and I drove downtown on a Saturday after dinner. We enjoyed a colorful sunset, fed the swans some spinach (did you know bread’s not good for our feathered friends?) and then got in an iconic swan boat as the sky was dimming and the lights were turning on. Breathtaking. This was a section of buildings that I hadn’t painted and I love the layers. This painting is 4 times the size of my 16×20 pieces. And with trying to capture the detail it took a long time to paint. A long time for for the buildings to take shape. And yet the time and effort are worth it, creating a scene to take in and enjoy.
