Revisiting a breath-taking spot in Rocky Mountain National Park. Called Alluvial Fan, it is the result of a levy falling on an alpine lake further up the mountain. When it failed it sent huge amounts of water, trees, and stone down the mountain and flooded the town below. It is a reminder that the national parks are not manufactured theme parks but can be dangerous. I love the boulders by the water and the amazing panoramic views this area provides. However even now the icy water rages down the mountain, and one misstep could lead to serious injury. It is a place that inspires and humbles at the same time.
